Employee Eligibilty FAQs

Who can use the loveelectric Charge Card?

Written by Jess Hawkins

Does my company need to be a loveelectric customer?

No. The Charge Card is available to any company running an EV benefit scheme, whether that's through loveelectric or another salary sacrifice provider. As long as your employees have eligible vehicles, you can add the Charge Card to your existing setup.

Which vehicles are eligible?

The Charge Card is available to drivers who have an electric vehicle through either a salary sacrifice lease or a traditional company car scheme. Privately owned vehicles are not eligible, and the card does not currently support hybrid vehicles.

Does it work with all chargers?

Yes — the Charge Card works with 100% of UK public chargers. The simplest way to use it is by tapping at a contactless payment terminal. Where a charger doesn't have a contactless terminal (such as Tesla Superchargers or Charge Place Scotland), employees can add the card as a payment method directly within the charge point operator's app, just like any other Visa card.

In rare cases, a brand new charging network may not be immediately recognised by the system. If this happens, our team can verify and whitelist the charger promptly.

Is there a minimum monthly amount?

Yes. The minimum top-up is £20 per month gross, which works out at approximately £11.60 per month net for most drivers. Any unused balance at the end of the contract term is refunded.

How do employees access the card?

Employees download the loveelectric Charge app from the App Store or Google Play, create their account, and add the virtual Visa card to their Apple or Google Wallet — ready to use straightaway, with no physical card required.
